Freehold's older downtown homes and newer subdivisions
Freehold covers both the borough's older houses near downtown and the township's newer subdivisions. Ductwork in the older homes has often been extended or patched over the decades, while newer houses tend to have long attic or basement trunk lines.
Air duct cleaning for Freehold homes
The Freehold area covers two very different housing stocks. Freehold Borough, the Monmouth County seat, is the old downtown around Court Street and Main Street, known for its Victorian-era homes; Census figures put the borough's median home build year at 1960, with about 77% of homes built before 1980. Freehold Township, which completely surrounds the borough, is mostly newer subdivisions: median build year 1984, with about 44% of homes built between 1980 and 1999.
That split matters for duct work. In older borough homes the ductwork has often been extended or patched as heating systems were replaced over the decades, so we check every run, joint and return rather than assuming one original layout. In township homes from the 1980s and 1990s, many systems are now on their second or third furnace or air handler, and the ducts behind them have never been cleaned.
Freehold is a commuter and commercial hub, home to the Freehold Raceway Mall and, until 2024, the Freehold Raceway harness track, with Monmouth Battlefield State Park on the township's western edge. With most Freehold homes now more than 25 years old, and many in the borough more than 60, ductwork that has never been cleaned has had decades to collect dust and debris. In a home with central air, the same ducts carry both heating and cooling, so they are in use for much of the year.
