USA Air Management offers video duct inspection for New Jersey homes from our Lincroft office, in business since 1996. A camera lets you see inside ductwork that’s hidden in walls, ceilings and attics, so you can decide whether cleaning or repair is actually needed. Call to get your quote: (908) 731-7090.

The EPA’s guide Should You Have the Air Ducts in Your Home Cleaned? says duct cleaning should be done as needed, not on a routine schedule. It recommends cleaning when ducts are visibly contaminated with substantial mold growth, pests or vermin, or are clogged with substantial deposits of dust or debris. It also notes that it’s normal for return registers to get dusty, and that dust on a grille doesn’t by itself mean the ducts need cleaning.
The catch is that most ductwork can’t be seen. The EPA points out that many sections of a heating and cooling system may not be accessible for a visual inspection, and advises homeowners to ask the service provider to show them any contamination they say exists. A video inspection is a direct way to do that.
A small camera on a flexible cable is fed into the ductwork through registers, returns or access points, and the image is shown on a monitor. We look at the supply and return runs that can be reached, and point out dust buildup, debris, disconnected or crushed sections, and signs of pests or moisture. The duct material matters too: the EPA notes that cleaning methods differ for bare sheet metal, flex duct and fiberglass duct board or lined ducts.
If the ducts need cleaning, a whole-house air duct cleaning covers unlimited vents and returns, all trunk lines and branch ducts, and the furnace and main chamber. If the problem is in the equipment, an air handler and coil cleaning may be what’s needed instead.

“USA Air Management did an excellent job cleaning our duct system. The technicians were professional, punctual, and took the time to explain the process. They worked efficiently, treated our home with care, and provided before-and-after photos so we could see the results. The entire experience was straightforward and reasonably priced. We appreciate their attention to detail and would gladly recommend them to anyone looking for quality duct cleaning services.” ★★★★★
“Air duct cleaning made a bigger difference than I expected. I asked them to show me a few before and after pictures. Now our house is cleaner and smells fresher.” ★★★★★

Not necessarily. The EPA notes that it’s normal for return registers to get dusty, and that much of the dirt inside ducts sticks to duct surfaces. The EPA recommends cleaning when ducts are visibly contaminated with substantial mold, pests or heavy debris. A video inspection shows which applies to your home.
It can show dust and debris buildup, construction debris after a renovation, crushed or disconnected sections, and signs of pests or moisture in the duct runs the camera can reach. It can’t confirm whether a substance is mold. The EPA says that requires an expert and sometimes a lab test.
It’s a good idea, especially for an older home, a recent renovation or a house that’s been empty for a while. Ductwork is mostly hidden, so a camera inspection gives you a view of its condition before you move in and helps you decide whether cleaning should be on your list.
Yes. Many customers like to see the result, and a before-and-after look is a good way to check the work. Tell the office when you book that you’d like the inside of the ducts shown after cleaning, so we can plan enough time for it during the visit.
Most runs that can be reached from registers, returns or access points can be inspected, but not every section of every system. The EPA notes that many parts of a heating and cooling system may not be accessible for visual inspection. We’ll tell you which sections we could and couldn’t see.
